East Midlands Railway is expanding its enforcement routes across its network in a bid to crack down on fare dodgers.

A Penalty Fare can be issued if a passenger boards a train without a valid ticket, which can result in a £100 fine or £50 if paid within 21 days. These new routes will be introduced not only in the East Midlands but across several services that East Midlands Railway operates nationally.

Once the new scheme has been finalised, the following routes will be added to EMR's penalty fare scheme: Derby to Matlock , Nottingham to Crewe, Nottingham to Liverpool(in collaboration with TransPennine Express and Northern's existing routes), Peterborough to Doncaster, and Nottingham to Lincoln.
