LOS ANGELES -- The 39th edition of AFI Fest is starting on a high note.

The festival announced that "Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere" will be its opening night film.

Jeremy Allen White portrays Bruce Springsteen in 1981 and 1982 as he records his album, "Nebraska," long considered one of his most enduring works.

The 20th Century Studios film also stars Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffman, Marc Maron and David Krumholtz. It's based on the book "Deliver Me From Nowhere by Warren Zanes and is directed by Scott Cooper.
