DARE COUNTY, N.C. — Although Hurricane Erin is moving away from North Carolina, the impact of the storm can still be felt on our coast.
Dare County has not seen many impacts other counties have, like closed roads due to overwash and debris. But that doesn't mean the water isn't dangerous, the county said.
The county's beaches are seeing life-threatening conditions like rip currents, hazardous surf and large breaking waves.
In response, local ocean rescue agencies have posted double red flags on all Dare County beaches, the county said. This means that no one is allowed to enter the water.
