AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The defendant in a murder case from October 2024 has been sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 15 years.
Charlie Demmons was sentenced to life without parole plus 15 years for malice murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
At 3:03 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, officials responded to a shooting in the parking lot of Oakview Place Apartments.
According to District Attorney Jared Williams, Demmons was in the parking lot of the apartment complex where the victim, Stephon Jones, lived with his parents.
Williams said that despite being a convicted felon, Demmons had two firearms on him, and he was looking for a fight.
