Celebrities say negative things about the Trump administration all the time and there’s often no official White House response. But when musician Jack White dared to insult President Trump’s Oval Office décor , saying, “It’s now a vulgar, gold-leafed, and gaudy professional wrestler’s dressing room,” it wound up setting off a days-long fight between the former White Stripes front man and White House communications director Steven Cheung.
The spat started on Monday night, when White posted a photo of Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy sitting in the Oval Office surrounded by a staggering amount of gold, from trophies to trim to the frames on the portraits. White described Trump as a “conman” with “disgusting taste.”
“What an embarrassment to American history,” he wrote.
