Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson is looking to improve public safety and address a stray animal problem with his new budget proposal.
The mayor’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 was presented to the council this week.
It includes $1.6 million for a new police department and $200,000 to expand the City’s spay and neuter program.
The capital budget includes $80 million in spending, based on projected revenues and expenditures. Each city council district would get $4 million for its own capital improvements.
