ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office reports a former deputy, school board member and school safety director is facing additional child sex abuse charges after a previous arrest on Aug. 7.
Deputies said 48-year-old Gregg Hayden was originally charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third-degree and attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, second degree after an interaction that took place on July 30.
Officials report Hayden picked up a child to play basketball, and drivers nearby saw signs of sexual abuse happening in his truck. He is not related to the child but knew them through a church mentorship program.
