MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WXIX) - The City of Middletown is searching for answers after a cybersecurity incident took down several city functions for days.
In-person services like Middletown police, the health department, and utility billing are now at a pause due to the attack.
This is something cyber analyst Dave Hatter said can be detrimental to communities.
“There is literally nothing you can do that will make you completely impervious to this, Hatter said. ”It doesn’t matter how much money you spend; it doesn’t matter what kind of mechanisms you put in place. Various high-level government agencies have been hacked.”
In a Facebook post, the City of Middletown referred to the situation as “highly sensitive,” while asking for “continued patience.”
