The First Academy of Orlando received news Thursday that football coach Jeff Conaway will be able to return to the sidelines later this season.
The school won an appeal to the FHSAA infraction appeals committee and Conaway, who was serving a one-year ban on coaching in games, had that penalty shortened to six games. He will be able to return to the sidelines Oct. 3., when the Royals travel to national power St. Frances Academy of Baltimore. Conaway is currently only able to coach in practice.

“I’m thankful. Very grateful for the opportunity and grateful for those who were able to communicate and talk things out and listen,” Conaway said. “It just took everybody coming together and I’m thankful for the appeals opportunity, for sure.
