With a spike in Niagara Falls properties with tax arrears, the city shouldn’t add to the financial burden facing residents and businesses as it prepares for 2026 budget deliberations, says Coun. Lori Lococo.

“We really need to look at what is in front of us for the budget — are they wants, are they needs, do we actually need to move forward with certain projects?” she said.

“It’s very difficult to keep adding and adding and then expect the taxpayers to pay for it. I think we have to look at the things that we have control over, and I think we have to look at the services that we’re providing. We might have to cut hours at certain facilities, or certain days.”
