HOUSTON (KIAH) — A fugitive who was mistakenly released from the Harris County Jail has been caught in Florida, authorities said.
Troy Dugas was captured in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Thursday, four days after he was released from Jail in Houston. The U.S. Marshals Service’s Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force made the arrest.
Dugas, 36, was released from jail on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. He was due to begin a five-year sentence at a state prison for assaulting a family member in Fort Bend County, along with a two-year sentence for evading arrest in Brazoria County.
He was in the Harris County Jail on local charges that were later dismissed. He was to be transferred to a state prison.
