When monsoon season arrives, Paradise Valley’s public works department is ready for action.

The town received its first serious dose of monsoon-related street mayhem on Aug. 14 when the area of North Golf Drive from East Northern Avenue to East Merion Way was closed due to flooding and debris from the golf course.

County weather gauges recorded up to 0.63 inches of rainfall throughout the nighttime showers. It was the first time in two years that the town had to close a road due to flooding.
