Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) reminisced about his early days working at Cracker Barrel in Tallahassee in a post on the social platform X Thursday, claiming it was where he “gave his life to Christ” — before unleashing a politically charged critique of the chain’s controversial new logo.
“No one asked for this woke rebrand. It’s time to Make Cracker Barrel Great Again,” Donalds declared in the X‑post, striking a chord with critics of the reshaping of the chain’s beloved iconography.
Cracker Barrel, an Americana stalwart founded in 1969, recently unveiled a sweeping brand overhaul under its “All the More” campaign, removing its iconic “Uncle Herschel” figure — an old man leaning on a barrel — from its logo, and replacing it with a minimalist, text‑only design using its signature gold-and-brown color palette.

The redesign has provoked widespread criticism across the political spectrum. Conservative figures, including President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., blasted the move as erasing a “beloved American aesthetic,” while others have condemned it as “sterile” and “soulless.”
"WTF is wrong with Cracker Barrel ??!,” wailed Donald Trump Jr in a post on X.
Meanwhile, Donalds' post was mocked on social media.
Patrick Jaicomo, a civil rights litigator, reacted to his post and wrote: "Ok, fine. I can’t stand it anymore. I don’t care about Cracker Barrel’s logo. If I had to pick, the old logo’s better. That said: Can someone please tell me how the new logo is 'woke'? Or how either logo has any political valence whatsoever? @ByronDonalds, help me understand?"
