New England oysters will soon be easier to find in Austin, as Austin Oyster Co. prepares to open its first brick-and-mortar location in East Austin later this year.

A closer look

Launched in 2020, owners Brenden Yancy and Drew Ahumada started their business as a delivery and catering service focused on private, at-home events. Since then, the company has grown in popularity, with the team shucking more than 100,000 oysters as well as establishing its own oyster farm in Maine.

The farm, known as Lone Pine Ranch, sits in the New Meadows River—roughly 45 minutes north of Portland, Maine—in an area referred to as the Napa Valley of oysters, according to the company's website.
