James Dobson, an influential Christian speaker, died Thursday at 89.
Born in 1936, Dobson is best known as the founder of Focus on the Family, an evangelical organization based in Arcadia, California , in 1977, before relocating to Colorado Springs, Colorado , in 1991. Dobson launched the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute in 2010 following his departure from Focus on the Family.
