Head coach Joey Iannetti says Fort McMurray's performance shows they can compete with some of the best youth baseball teams in Canada.

There were plenty of tears, cheers and hugs as the Fort McMurray Oil Giants ran onto the field and celebrated their bronze medal victory, securing their place as one of the best youth baseball teams in Canada.

For head coach Joey Iannetti, he was confident in the team’s chances ahead of this year’s national tournament. This was was the third time many of the athletes had competed nationally, he said. Many of them knew each other since they were children. But seeing the home team defeat some of the best athletes other provinces had to offer was “a huge accomplishment.” Article content
