BROOKFIELD, Ill. — If you've never seen a baby kangaroo poking out of it's mama's pouch, you're not alone. As cute as it is, it only happens for a short window. It's a tough thing to catch.
And that is exactly why people are squeezing in at Brookfield Zoo, hoping to capture a glimpse of the evasive little joey.
After eight long months, mama Trudy’s baby finally peeked out to say hello.
He doesn’t have a name yet, but he certainly has an audience.
Brookfield Zoo is actively working to increase their population of Western Gray Kangaroos, which have seen a significant decline in their natural habitat.
And it's working.. They recently discovered three more of their females have a budding joey growing in their pouch, so if you miss this one, you might get another shot early next year.
