The demolition of the clubhouse at Pimlico Race Course marks a milestone in the property’s redevelopment into a best-in-class facility, Maryland officials say.

The clubhouse demolition is part of a renovation plan to renovate Pimlico and keep the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore.

“Here in this moment, we’re ensuring the second leg of the Triple Crown will also be the Triple Crown’s crown jewel — and that crown jewel will be here in Baltimore, right where it belongs,” Gov. Wes Moore said Thursday morning, speaking at Pimlico.
