COLUMBUS, Ohio — A popular coffee shop in downtown Columbus has closed its doors, leaving employees without paychecks and uncertain about the café’s future.
Parable Coffee shut down on Monday. Employees told 10TV they have not been paid in two weeks.
From lattes to croissants, Parable Coffee has been a staple for downtown workers. Now, its doors are closed with no timeline for reopening.
General Manager Nan Meece said the owners made the decision to shut down.
“The final decision was we can’t have you come into work when we can’t guarantee you’ll get paid,” Meece said.
She added that the staff began realizing the extent of the financial troubles when paychecks stopped arriving.
“Everyone is feeling antsy. Everyone is stressed,” Meece said. “Most of us were living paycheck to pay
