After a dip in hotel tax revenue in June, race weekend is giving Volusia County tourism a much-needed boost.
“We’re going to sell out. We usually do every year. Friday and Saturday are very strong,” said Mike Bartscher, general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach. “We have about 65% transition in-house, but a lot of them are going to the races. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 has long been one of Daytona Beach’s biggest weekends, drawing race fans from across the country. Bartscher said his team is staffing up to keep up with the crowds.
“We are up a little bit this weekend with staffing to make sure that we’re prepared to handle the calendar,”
