Newark Police are investigating a stabbing that left a 14-year-old boy injured Thursday afternoon in the city’s South Ward.
According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, officers responded to Astor Street near Sherman Avenue at approximately 3:45 p.m. on August 21, 2025, following reports of a stabbing.
When they arrived, officers found the teenage victim suffering from stab wounds.
The boy was transported to University Hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
Police quickly located and detained a male juvenile suspect near the scene.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details have been released at this time.
