Michael Shannon will be throwing his hat in the ring on Netflix this fall.

Shannon stars as U.S. President James Garfield in Death by Lightning , which premieres Thursday, Nov. 6, the streamer has revealed. Netflix has also released first-look photos from the miniseries, which you can see below.

Death by Lightning tells “the epic and stranger-than-fiction true story of James Garfield, reluctant 20th president of the United States, and Charles Guiteau — a man who was not only Garfield’s greatest admirer but also his assassin,” per the official synopsis. Matthew Macfadyen ( Succession ) co-stars as Guiteau, with a supporting cast that includes Betty Gilpin, Nick Offerman, and Shea Whigham. Related Stories
