CLEVELAND — When 38-year-old Kenny Foderaro heard a familiar voice at the Cleveland Sight Center, also known as Cleveland Society for the Blind, last year, he had no idea it would lead to him becoming part of a groundbreaking police program.
The voice belonged to Officer Jeff Ridler of the University Circle Police Department, someone Kenny hadn't heard from in quite a while.
"I hadn't heard his voice until last year when I was at the Cleveland Society for the Blind," Kenny said. "And then lo and behold, out of the blue he popped out of the woodwork out of nowhere."
Officer Ridler told Kenny about University Circle's Ambassador Program, an initiative launched by Police Chief Thomas Wetzel to pair officers with community members who have various challenges or disabilities.
