CALISTOGA, Calif. —

Evacuations have been ordered for a vegetation fire burning in the hills of Napa County on Thursday, according to Cal Fire.

The Pickett Fire sparked just before 3 p.m. in the area of Pickett Road in Calistoga.

Video from Alert California and KTVU showed several aircraft working to contain the fire, as a thick plume of smoke rose to form a large, dark cloud over the region.

Cal Fire said the fire had a moderate rate of spread and formed some nearby spot fires. By 4:30 p.m., the fire had spread across 60 acres. Around 5:20 p.m., Cal Fire said the fire had spread to 175 acres.

The evacuation orders and warnings appear to impact several wineries and vineyards in the area.
