SARATOGA SPRINGS – The unanimously approved three ordinances to lower the speed limit essentially throughout the city from 30 mph to 25 mph. The vote followed a public hearing during the council meeting Tuesday night.

The council approved the speed limit reduction as a safety measure and in response to a legislative package signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul in August 2022, giving municipalities local control to reduce speed limits with a goal to improve public safety and help prevent pedestrian fatalities.
