BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - North Dakota leads the country in the highest DUI arrests per capita. The National Road Safety Foundation shares tips for combating drunk driving.
Tammy McGee, with the organization, said that the number one step is to have conversations to raise awareness about the danger.
“We need to make sure that everyone understands the dangers each and every time you get behind the wheel. And a lot of people don’t think about it, but driving, you’re actually driving a lethal weapon,” said McGee.
McGee said that drunk driving can affect anyone. She recommends being in contact with local legislators and working with the Highway Safety Office to establish programs that fund free rides for impaired drivers.
