Six people died in a freak “dairy accident” in Colorado on Thursday, according to authorities.

Fire crews were called to rescue six people trapped in a confined space at Prospect Valley Dairy in Keenesburg at around 6 p.m. Thursday, according to a release from the Southeast Weld Fire Protection District .

“Crews responded and took appropriate precautions to enter the confined space to perform rescue operations. Unfortunately, District personnel recovered six deceased individuals from the space.”

The Weld County Coroner’s Office stated preliminary findings indicated the victims, who were all men, were exposed to a deadly gas at the dairy farm, CBS News reported
