Brooklynn Haywood is staying in the Pacific Northwest.
The Union High School senior guard announced Thursday on social media that she is committing to the University of Oregon to play basketball.
“After a long talk with my family, weighing every option, I’ve made my decision,” Haywood said in a social media post. “I’m committing to the University of Oregon.”
Haywood chose Oregon over Baylor and Utah.
Haywood told Rivals.com that Oregon head coach Kelly Graves and the proximity to Vancouver helped sway her decision over Utah and Baylor.
“Kelly Graves has come out with some great point guards,” Haywood told Rivals. “That’s kind of one of the things he’s known for is just having amazing point guards with high IQs. Also, it’s close to home, so that was a plus. It’s two and a half hours
