PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A 15-year-old girl has been hospitalized after a shooting near Manual High School in Peoria.
According to the Peoria Police Department , officers responded to a shooting around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of South Griswold Street, a block and a half away from Manual High School, Peoria Public Schools said. 25News crews arrived shortly after to find multiple police cruisers and most of Griswold Street taped off for the investigation.
The 15-year-old student sustained a graze wound and has since been transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police Chief Eric Echevarria reported the teenager was walking down Griswold Street, away from Manual High School , when eight rounds were fired.
