ANN ARBOR – Michigan players certainly were aware of the NCAA investigation into an illegal scouting scheme within the program launched midseason in 2023 but said they did not worry about the outcome and potential punishments that could have included a postseason ban.

The NCAA issued its penalties to Michigan last Friday, and they include head coach Sherrone Moore serving a two-game self-imposed suspension this season and one game next season, and a multi-million dollar fine that the school is appealing. And while the NCAA said there were sufficient grounds” for a “multiyear” ban, it opted against that because it would “unfairly penalize student-athletes for the actions of coaches and staff” who are no longer there.
