With the Franklin River Road still being closed due to the Mount Underwood wildfire, people travelling to the Ditidaht First Nation have to take an alternate route which is along a difficult and dangerous road.

Dorothy Burn has relied heavily on the potholed road between Nitinaht and Bamfield during the nine-day-long State of Emergency at the Ditidaht Nation, as she and community members drive to get supplies and provide emergency food services for the 200 people living there without power. But the Ditidaht woman said it has taken a toll.
