Residents in a San Jose neighborhood are raising concerns about vandalism and illegal dumping at a recently closed school in the Alum Rock district.

Vandals have hit Joseph George Middle School hard, leaving behind broken windows and rampant tagging. NBC Bay Area also spotted a school district truck hauling away junk, including a mattress, that people dumped on campus.

Residents in the area said they don’t like where this is all headed.

"That's real bad," resident Jose Moncada said. "It will lower the value of the property and the gangs will come in and destroy the property more."

Other neighbors have taken to social media to express their frustration.
