ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of North Carolina reports an Asheville man was sentenced for possession of a firearm by a felon on Thursday.
According to court records, 24-year-old Juve Markie Lequan McAlpin was convicted in federal court of illegal firearm possession and sentenced to prison on Aug. 4, 2022. He was placed in federal supervision after his release.
McAlpin was later arrested at a Shell gas station in Hendersonville, N.C., on Apr. 24, 2024. A loaded Taurus Model 65 .357 caliber revolver with an obliterated serial number was found in a vehicle in which McAlpin was a passenger, officials said.
