CLEVELAND, Ohio - Two Elyria women who escaped a house fire Wednesday evening were arrested moments later on outstanding warrants, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a fully engulfed home just after 7 p.m. in the 400 block of Marseilles Avenue, where they found residents Molly Doughty, 43, and Leaha Caruthers, 41, safely outside.
Police at the scene discovered Doughty was wanted on charges of breaking and entering, theft and criminal mischief, according to a report by Capt. Bill Lantz, a spokesman for Elyria police.
Caruthers had an outstanding warrant that accused her of falsification. Both women were transported to the Lorain County Jail.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze. The extent of damage to the home has not been determined.
