FARGO — With students headed back to school, police are warning motorists to slow down in school zones and watch for students who can sometimes be unpredictable.

A child suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car in south Fargo on Thursday morning , and police are hoping to prevent more incidents. The crash happened just blocks away from Sheyenne High School.

Additional safety measures have been added at a pedestrian walkway for students near Carl Ben Eielson Middle School in Fargo. Police said the most common area for collisions between bicyclists and drivers are at controlled intersections.

“Together, we can share these roads,” said Tom Smith, manager of Great Northern Bicycle Company.
