Six students from multiple Albuquerque Public Schools have been charged criminally after multiple guns were brought onto school campuses on Wednesday, leading to increased counseling support for affected students.

Two guns were found at West Mesa High School, two were found at Albuquerque High School, and a fifth firearm was found near Del Norte High School on Wednesday, Aug. 20.

KOAT previously reported five students were charged for bringing weapons on school campuses, but learned Thursday evening that a sixth APS student has been charged criminally from Del Norte High School, though it is not yet clear what their charges are for.
