Georgia football and the rest of the SEC will play nine conference games starting in the 2026 season.

The announcement by the league on Thursday, Aug. 21 , came after years of debate about whether the conference schedule should increase from eight to nine games.

SEC athletic directors recommended the move to nine, which was approved by SEC presidents and chancellors, the league announced.
