Since representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Small Business Administration arrived last month to help those affected by the June 14 flash floods in Ohio County, flood victims have been able to access multiple avenues for aid — and the federal organizations have kept coming up with more.

The most recent was $770 in Serious Needs Assistance, a new offering from FEMA which had not been approved for Ohio and Marion counties until recently.

“It’s for anything people might have needed after the disaster,” FEMA spokesperson Kim Fuller said. “If they had to buy water, cleaning supplies, food, it literally could be anything.”

That’s on top of another new avenue of aid, a $300 Clean and Sanitize Assistance payment for people to buy or be reimbursed for cleaning supplies
