A popular Northern Kentucky dog training school has suddenly shut its doors, leaving clients and employees scrambling for answers.
Smart Dog School, based in Union, closed last week after nearly a decade in business. Owner Randall Byrd confirmed in a statement that the school ran out of money and could no longer cover payroll, rent, or other expenses. Advertisement
For clients like Nichelle Oliver, who spent more than $4,000 on a lifetime training package for her German shepherd, the closure came as a shock.
"It really sucks, if I'm being honest," Oliver said. "I'm right now fighting with my bank trying to get my money back. I've filed a consumer complaint with the attorney general. I've spoken with the Boone County Police Department."
