Hurricane Erin did not make landfall in Connecticut, but people flocked to the beaches on the New England Shoreline to see bigger waves.
In Westerly, Rhode Island, surfer Saxon Herbert of Waterford said the waves reached seven to nine feet.

“It’s humbling, that’s the word I would use, humbling. It's no joke out there," Herbert said.
While Hurricane Erin did not make landfall, the storm created waters people were excited to see and swim in, if they dared to despite warnings not to.
“I've been surfing since Monday so I am straight like noodle arms right now," Zach Tyropolis, of Mystic, said. "You got to be careful, know your limitations, take it easy."
