As Hurricane Erin makes its way northeast, further away from North Carolina's coast, its impacts will continue linger in the Outer Banks, especially during early morning high tides.
Dare County officials said that the barriers at the Marc Basnight Bridge of NC-12 could be taken down as soon as Friday, but the Outer Banks is expecting one more storm-driven high tide, which could cause more flooding along the roads. The high tide is expected to crest just a quarter after 7 a.m.
Gov. Josh Stein will make his way to the coast to survey the damage and thank first responders for their work during this hurricane. He is expected to arrive around 1:30 p.m. Friday.
