Applied Digital, a technology company that builds and operates data centers, expects to break ground in September on a $3 billion, 280-megawatt "AI factory" near Harwood, a small community north of Fargo.
The new project, dubbed Polaris Forge 2, comes as demand for artificial intelligence computing capacity continues to grow, the Texas-based company said in a news release . Applied Digital’s Polaris Forge 1 campus is in Ellendale, about 65 miles south of Jamestown, near the South Dakota border.
"The demand for AI capacity continues to accelerate, and North Dakota continues to be one of the most strategic locations in the country to meet that need," Applied Digital CEO Wes Cummins said in a news release .
