ROCHESTER — Nine of the 10 candidates made their pitch to fill vacant seats on the city School Board during an Aug. 19 meeting of the City Council.

The City Council on Sept. 2 will vote on successors to fill the seats on the 13-member board formerly held by Vice Chair Karen Stokes and Paul Cormier for the remainder of their two-year terms, which expire at the end of 2025.

Stokes and Cormier both resigned during a July 11 School Board meeting.

The city council workshop on Tuesday, Aug. 19, was a chance to interview the 10 candidates who want to fill the two vacant school board seats, but only nine showed up.

The candidates for the Ward 4 seat vacated by Cormier are Lisa Calberg, Anne Grassie and Jerry Gregoire, as well Jim Connor, who did not attend the council meeting.
