CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY)-- A man has died following a motorcycle crash in Chesapeake Thursday night.

According to Virginia State Police, troopers were called to the entrance ramp to Interstate 664 from Portsmouth Boulevard at 10:27 p.m. for the report of a single vehicle motorcycle crash. When troopers arrived, Chesapeake Fire & EMS were performing life-saving measures to the driver of a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle before transporting him to Portsmouth Naval Hospital where he later died.

Police identified the driver as 34-year-old Tyler McQuillan Cavanagh of Norfolk.

After investigating, it was revealed that Cavanagh was traveling westbound on Portsmouth Boulevard when he attempted to take the entrance ramp to northbound Interstate 664. Cavanagh struck a curb causing the motorcycle to
