A large red wooden number one, lots of beetroot and carrot juice ice cream balls, and a bamboo birthday candle—this is how panda twins Leni and Lotti celebrate their first birthday at Berlin Zoo.

Their birth weight of less than 200g has now increased more than a hundredfold. Today, the two panda girls each weigh around 21 kilograms.

Initially blind, naked, and completely helpless, they are now confidently exploring their enclosure, climbing skillfully, and have already developed a healthy appetite for bamboo, even though Mama Meng Meng's (12) milk still tastes best to them.
