ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Beach accesses in Onslow County have now reopened after Hurricane Erin.
The three county-operated beach accesses were closed earlier this week because of serious rip current risks and overwash concerns.
The county says there was some localized dune erosion on Topsail Island, and one beach access had some overwash into the park lot. That debris has since been cleared, and the county says all beach facilities are safe.
Swimmers are still being cautioned that rip currents can still be a hazard even though the ocean appears calm.
