ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York reported that Alexander MacFayden of Canada was sentenced on Thursday to 15 years and eight months in prison for multiple child sex crimes. MacFayden, 60, was arrested back in 2023.

As part of his previous guilty plea, MacFayden admitted to traveling from Toronto to Albany on August 25, 2023 with the intent of having sex with a 10-year-old girl. MacFayden confessed that prior to his trip, he had exchanged lewd online messages between May and August of 2023 with someone he believed would allow him to rape their young relative in Albany.

"Alexander MacFayden is a depraved person who wanted to have sex with a 10-year-old girl. He will now spend the next 15 years in federal prison," Acting U.S. Attorney
