A Scots council has warned those preparing to join an anti-asylum hotel protest as they urge demonstrators to treat "those seeking refuge, the same way they would hope to be treated". ‌

Abolish Asylum System protests have been scheduled outside migrant hotels across the UK on Saturday, including at the Radisson Hotel on Leonard Street in Perth and at the Hampton by Hilton in Aberdeen. ‌

Perth and Kinross Council leaders have issued a joint statement reaffirming the city's sanctuary status and urging protestors to think before attending . ‌

The statement read: “As the political leaders of Perth and Kinross Council we stand united in reaffirming our status as a Council of Sanctuary. Something which builds on the long tradition of our communities welcoming people seeking safety.
