Charlotte, NC – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control (ACC) has issued a crisis-level alert this afternoon as we head into the weekend.

As of this afternoon, only two open dog kennels remain between the main shelter at 8315 Byrum Drive and the satellite shelter at 2700 Toomey Avenue in Charlotte. We are in urgent need of adopters, fosters, or short-term “Staycation” participants to help make space for incoming animals and avoid the possibility of euthanasia due to overcrowding.

Last Friday, August 15, ACC waived all adoption fees as part of the NBC Clear the Shelters event to increase adoptions and reduce the shelter population.
