SANTA CLARA — Before the question was even halfway finished, Trent Williams already was formulating his answer.
Upon the mention of Christian McCaffrey , the 49ers All-Pro left tackle chuckled, not needing to hear the rest.
“Obviously y’all got eyes like I do,” Williams said. “Christian looks fantastic. He looks like Offensive Player of the Year Christian. That’s really refreshing to see, knowing what he had to deal with last year. Just the little knicks and knacks and not being able to do what he loves.”
McCaffrey’s 2024 season had a late start due to bilateral Achilles tendonitis that kept him off the field starting in training camp. It wasn’t until Week 10 that the All-Pro suited up for his first game, carrying the ball 13 times for 39 yards — a 3.0 yard per carry average.
